Andrii Sybiha's Response to Viktor Orbán

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has issued a sharp retort to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who declared that the Hungarian parliament would not support Ukraine's accession to the European Union for the next 100 years. Sybiha's response was published on his X social media account on January 23.

In his statement, Orbán asserted that Hungary would not vote in favor of Ukraine joining the EU for a century. Sybiha dismissed Orbán's plan as 'doomed to fail.' He added a pointed remark, stating that even if Hungary attempted to obstruct Ukraine's path,

"your master in Moscow will not last 100 years, even if you were ready to transplant all his organs"
- Andrii Sybiha.

Sybiha emphasized that on the day Ukraine joins the EU, a headline dedicated to Orbán's remarks would be displayed in Ukraine to serve as a reminder of 'your lies for the next 100 years.'

Financial Aid and Strained Relations

Orbán also referenced EU financial assistance for Ukraine, claiming the bloc wants to provide 800 billion euros in aid, plus an additional 700 billion over 10 years. However, he reiterated Hungary's opposition to granting Ukraine EU membership in 2027. These anti-Ukrainian statements formed the basis for Sybiha's sharp rebuke, highlighting the ongoing tension between Ukraine and Hungary.

Relations between Ukraine and Hungary remain strained, particularly against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Ukraine and Kyiv's efforts toward European integration. Orbán's comments and Sybiha's reaction underscore deep political divisions that could affect future cooperation. Hungary's stance, often at odds with broader EU policy, continues to be a point of contention within the bloc regarding support for Ukraine and its European aspirations.
