According to Novyny.live: A significant conservation milestone took place in a national park in the Odesa region: a previously injured barn owl, which spent months recovering at the Young Naturalists' Station in Izmail, has been released into the wild. Listed in Ukraine's Red Book of endangered species, this owl belongs to a population now at critical risk of extinction, raising alarms among ecologists and conservationists.

The owl was discovered wounded several months ago. Following an extended rehabilitation period at the Young Naturalists' Station, it was deemed ready to return to its natural habitat. Ivan Rusev, a representative from the station, commented:

“We brought it to the national park and have now released it into the wild. It flew off beautifully, surveying the vast expanse of its future home from a bird's-eye view.” - Ivan Rusev

This release is part of ongoing initiatives to restore wild animal populations across Ukraine. Recently, in the 'Tuzlivski Lymany' National Park, several young wildcats were also released after being cared for at the Young Naturalists' Station for seven months. Additionally, bird numbers in the estuary waters have risen in recent months. Late February sightings included:

• the first flocks of greater flamingos,
• a group of 55 Dalmatian pelicans stopping near the Sasyk Estuary.
