Russian invaders attacked Poltava with "Iskander" missiles
On the morning of September 3, 2024, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced a missile strike on Poltava. According to him, Russian invaders attacked an educational institution and a nearby hospital with two "Iskander" missiles. As a result of the shelling, people were killed and injured, many were trapped under the rubble.
Syrskyi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the importance of investigating this war crime. He emphasized that the Military Police Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is actively involved in the investigation of the incident.
"The aggressor country must answer for every life taken, for every mutilated life. War crimes have no statute of limitations. The criminals will be punished," he said.
The death toll from the attack has increased to 47
The First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska updated the data on the attack victims. According to her, the number of dead has increased to 47, and the injured - to 206. Zelenska called the incident "a staggering tragedy for all of Ukraine" and emphasized that Russia "takes away the most precious thing - the lives of Ukrainians".
President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier reported that two ballistic missiles were launched at Poltava, partially destroying the building of the Institute of Communications and a nearby hospital.
In connection with this, a three-day mourning period has been declared in Poltava Oblast. The State Bureau of Investigation has launched a criminal investigation into military negligence in connection with the missile strike.
