Syrsky revealed the details of the preparation for the Kursk operation.
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine prepared for the Kursk operation
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was thoroughly preparing for the Kursk operation, taking into account the experience of previous offensive operations. This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, in a documentary film about the Kursk operation that was broadcast during the telethon.
“We calculated various scenarios of how events could unfold. We had minimum and maximum tasks. Of course, we took into account the experience of the Kharkiv operation (in 2022 - Glavkom). This is not an exaggeration, we really considered this experience, taking into account that the terrain was similar,” the general noted.
The Commander-in-Chief clarified that before the start of the offensive actions, he visited all units and explained their goals, as well as wished the soldiers success.
Syrsky added that the motivation before the start of such offensive actions was very high.
Russia prepared its territory for defense
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also noted that Russia was carefully preparing its territory for defense against a possible offensive. A powerful defensive line was established in the Kursk region, and the occupiers arranged minefields of various configurations.
“And the main thing - along the main directions accessible for the advance of our troops, well-prepared defensive structures were created,” he added.
Tasks for the Ukrainian troops
Recall that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, identified the main tasks for the Ukrainian troops in the Kursk direction. Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are countering the Russians, despite their numerical superiority. This was reported by Syrsky on Facebook.
“Right now, our main task is to strengthen the defense, inflict maximum losses on the enemy, prepare reserves, and ensure the uninterrupted supply of ammunition and other material-technical means to the units and formations,” he explained.
Russian forces are retreating
It was previously reported that Ukrainian forces recently continued to advance in the Kursk region, particularly south of Darino. This is evidenced by geolocation footage, according to a report by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Additionally, Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces attempted unsuccessfully to counterattack near Darino, Mykolaievo-Darino (southeast of Korenevo), Nova Ivanivka, and Pihrebky (northwest of Suji).
The Russian army had been preparing its forces for months for the upcoming counteroffensive and the expulsion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Russian territory. However, the number of Russian military groupings in the Kursk region is not catastrophic, as stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Putin wants to regain the Kursk region before Trump's inauguration
According to some reports, Russian leader Vladimir Putin is trying to outpace the Armed Forces of Ukraine and regain the Kursk region before the inauguration of the elected U.S. President Donald Trump, that is, before January 20.
