Syrskyi on the retreat of the brigade near Huliaipole: a service investigation has been initiated.
The situation in the Huliaipole direction
According to ТСН: The situation in the Huliaipole direction has escalated due to the retreat of one of the territorial defense units. This forced the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to urgently redeploy assault units to stabilize the defense.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, commented on a video published by the Russian side, which showed the occupiers at the command-observation point of the battalion in Huliaipole. He noted that this concerns the positions of the 102nd brigade of the territorial defense, which could not withstand the enemy's pressure and began to retreat.
“We were forced to redeploy our assault units and detachments there, which gradually occupied what was left,” he noted.
Syrskyi added that the situation in this direction has currently been stabilized, although hostilities continue. “The enemy has not had any advantages for almost a month. They attempt to attack every day, but suffer huge losses,” he said.
The Commander-in-Chief also emphasized that the actions of the battalion commander could have been organized differently, considering the reinforcements that were already approaching.
“The actions of the battalion command could have been built in an absolutely different way, because reinforcements from the 5th assault brigade were on their way. They were actually just two streets away from this command point,” the commander-in-chief emphasized.
A service investigation has been initiated within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, conducted by the Military Law Enforcement Service. This investigation will assess the actions of the battalion commander, including the implementation of the order to organize circular defense and the destruction of materials that could contain important or confidential information.
“That is, they could have simply burned everything. I know they had time for this, and the enemy's forces there were limited,” Syrskyi pointed out.
Currently, the defense of Huliaipole is maintained by the 225th assault regiment.
“The commanders there are soberly assessing the situation, conducting active assault actions, holding the defense,” the commander-in-chief added.Syrskyi acknowledged that the retreat of territorial defense units negatively affects the stability of the defense but assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are strengthening this direction with appropriate forces.
It should be noted that a video emerged online in which Russian military personnel claim to have captured the command-observation point of the 1st battalion of the 106th separate brigade of the territorial defense near Huliaipole. Defensive forces will conduct an investigation.
The situation in this direction remains complicated, but Ukrainian military continue to work on stabilizing their positions. Importantly, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is ready to respond to challenges and strengthen the defense.
