Klychko urges Kyiv residents to leave: the capital faces a critical heating situation.
According to ТСН: After Russia's massive rocket bombardment, hundreds of thousands of Kyiv residents have been without electricity and heating for two days. In this situation, Kyiv residents are advised, if possible, to leave the city as the situation in the capital is critical.
Address from the Mayor of Kyiv
The Mayor of the capital, Vitali Klychko, stated in his interview:
“We are doing everything possible to restore electricity and heating for the residents of Kyiv as quickly as possible, however, the situation is extremely critical. Temperatures are currently dropping to -20°. Therefore, we urge all people without heating, who can visit friends or relatives or leave the city — to do so until the problems are resolved.”
According to him, the Russian 'Führer' is deliberately continuing to bomb civilian infrastructure to achieve a complete blackout:
“Putin's goal is to completely destroy heating and electricity supply infrastructure through bombings and make cities uninhabitable.”
Problems with air defense
Klychko also emphasized that air defense lacks sufficient resources to effectively repel attacks even in Kyiv:
“We urgently need additional air defense systems to protect the population from Russian air strikes.”
Let us remind you that on the night of January 9, Russia massively attacked Kyiv, resulting in four deaths. In some areas of the capital, there have been power outages and water supply interruptions due to damage to infrastructure facilities. During the shelling, Russian forces deliberately targeted the city's heating plants.
In this regard, the situation in Kyiv remains difficult. The Mayor called on residents who can to leave the city, where alternative power and heating sources are available. Amid continuous shelling, it is important to seek any means to ensure personal safety and comfortable winter living.
