How many Ukrainians trust Zelensky? KMPIS Poll.
The Kyiv city sociological institute regularly conducts research to determine how Ukrainians feel about various social institutions and personalities, including the President of Ukraine. The results of the survey conducted from December 2 to 17, 2024, regarding citizens' attitudes towards Volodymyr Zelensky have been published.
According to the results of the Kyiv city sociological institute's research, at the end of 2024, the majority of Ukrainians (52%) felt trust in the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, while 39% expressed distrust. 9% of respondents had an indecisive attitude.
Ukrainians had the opportunity to choose one of the suggested options: 'do not trust at all', 'rather do not trust', 'rather trust', and 'fully trust'. However, the option 'hard to say' was not included, but respondents could answer this question independently.
Moreover, the sociological institute also published the results of the 2023 research. It turned out that at the end of 2023, 77% of Ukrainians trusted Volodymyr Zelensky, but by February 2024, this figure dropped to 64%, and by May 2024 - to 59%. At the same Time, the number of distrustful increased from 22% to 36% during this period.
Further Changes
By October 2024, the situation stabilized, but from October to December 2024, the level of trust began to decrease again. However, this was not related to an increase in distrust, but to an increase in uncertainty regarding Zelensky (i.e., the number of those who have no clear attitude increased).
The research was conducted using phone interviews through the CATI method based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. 2000 respondents from different regions of Ukraine were surveyed. The survey participants consisted of adult citizens of Ukraine living in government-controlled territories. Residents of temporarily occupied territories and citizens who left abroad after February 24, 2022, did not participate in the survey.
It was previously reported that in December 2024, the number of Ukrainians willing to endure losses to achieve peace increased. At the same time, the number of categorical opponents of any concessions decreased. By the end of 2024, 38% of Ukrainians believed that Ukraine should give up some territories to achieve peace, while 51% were against such concessions.
