Salary analysis in the Armed Forces

The Ukrainian edition Novyny.LIVE conducted an analysis of salaries in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in the armies of other countries. Its aim is to determine where military personnel earn the most. The salaries of military personnel from Ukraine, the USA, Israel, Germany, France, and Russia were included in the comparison. Data were taken from open sources and converted into dollars for convenience.

Ukrainian soldiers receive basic payments, such as a salary, rank salary, and seniority bonuses. In addition, there are monthly and one-Time additional payments.

Salary of military personnel in Ukraine

For example, during martial law, servicemen participating in combat operations on the front receive 100 thousand hryvnias per month, while those serving in headquarters receive 50 thousand. The total income of a soldier in Ukraine can vary from 20 thousand to 210 thousand hryvnias per month (from 479.88 to 5,038.70 dollars).

Salaries of military personnel in other countries

In the USA, the salary of military personnel starts at 2,017.20 dollars per month for privates. In addition to the base income, American soldiers receive substantial bonuses. For example, those who speak foreign languages can claim additional payments of up to 40 thousand dollars. The salary of a military personnel in the USA can reach 60,515 dollars.

Military personnel in Israel receive salaries based on their rank and branch of service. Salaries for conscript soldiers range from 345.77 to 853.37 dollars per month, while contract personnel earn significantly more.

In Germany, a private soldier earns about 2,336.97 dollars per month. Depending on rank and duties, the salary can reach 5,542.68 dollars. Special forces personnel receive additional allowances.

French military personnel, after the pay reform, earn between 1,451.40 and 8,953.46 dollars. The size of the salary depends on rank, experience, and specialization.

Russian military personnel earn significantly less. The salary of soldiers starts at 249.44 dollars, and for contract soldiers in combat zones, it can reach 2,225.81 dollars.
