Slovenia Delivered Demining Tractors to Ukraine.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine received two tractors, which were purchased with funds provided by the Slovenian government under the United24 initiative. These tractors will help deliver demining equipment to areas where territory clearance is being conducted, the Ministry of Economy reported.
"I thank Slovenia for supporting humanitarian demining in Ukraine. Additional tractors mean greater mobility for our rescue units. It's important for us that the tractors were acquired in response to the SES request. Such collaboration allows effective use of funds provided by our partners for humanitarian demining," said the Head of the Humanitarian Demining Department of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, Dmytro Panshin.
The agreement on allocating 1.5 million euros for humanitarian aid in the field of demining was signed between the governments of Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia in December 2023. The agreement came into force on July 3 this year after the completion of domestic procedures.
"I very well understand how important the work of demining our land is. Allocating 1.5 million euros for humanitarian demining is a very right step by the Slovenian government. We, together with the Embassy team, are working to increase our country's contribution," said the Ambassador of Slovenia to Ukraine, Mateja Prevolšek.
"This season, together with partners, we hope to have up to 90 demining machines at the SES. This may be the largest fleet of such machines in Europe. And we hope to clear even more territory. Therefore, the tractors are extremely necessary, as the demining machines need to be transported to the work site," said the Head of the SES of Ukraine, Andriy Danyk.
