'In recent days, the media has again reported the circumstances of the death of a Ukrainian citizen - Hungarian Josip Shebeshten. The DBR states that such reports are of a manipulative nature and do not correspond to reality,' - the message says.
According to reports, Josip Shebeshten was conscripted for military service on June 14, 2025, in Mukachevo. He passed a military medical commission but later left the unit without permission. He later sought medical help due to indisposition, but no serious injuries were found. He died on July 6 in the hospital, where there is no evidence of violent death.
The Government of Hungary expressed concern about the death of their citizen and imposed sanctions on some Ukrainian officials.
