His family accuses the medical staff of negligence and providing inadequate post-operative care. Case Details
The fatal surgery took place at the 'Consilium Medical' center. The family spent approximately 300,000 Ukrainian hryvnias on the treatment, with the operation itself costing around 200,000 hryvnias and intensive care costing 20,000 to 30,000 hryvnias per day. The situation worsened when, after being informed of Hennadii Chauvrov's death, the family arrived at the hospital to find his body had already been moved to the morgue. Svitlana Chauvrova recounted:
'When we were notified of our father's death, we rushed to the hospital in shock, and his body was already in the morgue.'
The Kyiv police investigative department initiated criminal proceedings on February 15, 2025. The deceased's wife submitted a written statement refusing an autopsy, a fact confirmed by the family's representative, Dmytro Reshetko. Furthermore, questions surrounding documentation and the handling of the body have raised additional doubts for the family regarding the medical staff's conduct. This case highlights ongoing concerns about patient safety and regulatory oversight in Ukraine's private healthcare sector.
The family intends to pursue the matter with law enforcement to clarify all circumstances. They express deep concern that substandard care led to the tragedy. Police are also investigating a separate case involving the clinic, though details remain undisclosed. The investigation is ongoing, with the family hoping for a just outcome. The death of Hennadii Chauvrov underscores the critical importance of proper medical care and institutional accountability in healthcare.
