The Life and Service of Andriy Fedin

Senior soldier Andriy Fedin, also known as Fanta, was killed on December 23, 2023, near the village of Shumy in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region. This information was confirmed by the Chernivtsi Regional Council.

Andriy Andriyovych Fedin was born on June 14, 1982, in the village of Shypintsi in Bukovyna. He studied at a local lyceum and then obtained a profession as a radio mechanic at the Chernivtsi Vocational Technical School. He worked abroad for ten years but returned to Ukraine before the full-scale war began.

He defended the state as the commander of a combat vehicle, the commander of the 2nd mechanized section of the 2nd mechanized platoon of the 5th mechanized company of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Daniel.

While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained serious injuries from a sniper shot. At the time of his death, Andriy was 41 years old. Posthumously, the brigade command awarded him the Order of the 'Cross of the Hero'.

“Andriy and I spent the last eight years together, loving each other deeply, we had many life plans, we were going to register our marriage, but we didn’t have time… Andriy was the kindest person in the world, polite, generous, just, brave, the most beloved man in the world. Now my Hero is forever!”

His example will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and inspire others to fight for freedom. We bow our heads in front of his feat and will always remember his self-sacrifice.”

Recognition for Bravery

By the decree of the President of Ukraine No. 234/2025, Andriy was posthumously awarded the Order of 'For Courage' III degree for his displayed courage and dedication in defending the state. The award was received by his mother and daughter on June 24, 2025.

Andriy Fedin was buried in his native village of Shypintsi. He left behind a beloved, two daughters, parents, and a brother.

We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the fight for freedom. We light candles in memory and bow our heads in grief during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring those who gave their lives for the independence of the state.
