Scholz consulted with Zelensky before calling Putin: Kuleba revealed the details.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reached out to President Volodymyr Zelensky with a question about the possibility of calling Vladimir Putin.
According to Kuleba, a few months ago Scholz asked Zelensky if he planned to call Putin. Zelensky refused, and Scholz accepted that decision.
After the elections in the USA, Scholz nevertheless decided to call Putin, despite Zelensky's refusal. Zelensky publicly expressed his criticism regarding this decision.
Kuleba believes that this action by Scholz will have consequences, in particular - it will allow Putin to emerge from European isolation and worsen Germany's relations with Hungary.
According to him, this step will have a negative impact on Germany's reputation among Ukrainians and German voters.
Kuleba noted that although he does not know all the arguments in favor of such a call, he is trying to understand why Scholz decided to make it.
Let us remind you that ISW shared how Putin uses the uncertainty of the USA regarding Ukraine.
