The Ukrainian experimental project for the care of children with disabilities has started its work. According to it, some Ukrainian families will receive 24 thousand hryvnias per month for each such child.

Details of the project

The project is intended for children aged six and older who cannot attend school due to health issues. The program is designed for two years, and the financial support will be provided by the state. The Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities will pay service providers 24 thousand hryvnias for caring for the child with disabilities. Payments will be made monthly, and motivational bonuses will also be provided for effectiveness, such as regular attendance at classes.

'The task is to create conditions under which the child will not only develop skills but will also be able to participate in the educational process together with others. For this purpose, social services will be provided in conjunction with educational services,'

Communities will take on responsibilities for organizing services for children with disabilities, including equipping premises, transporting children, co-financing expenses, and appointing a social manager who will coordinate the project at the local level.

How to use the service

Parents or legal representatives of children with disabilities should contact the social manager working in the local self-government body. Initially, they need to undergo an assessment by the Inclusive Resource Center, which will issue a conclusion about the level of support. After that, the child can be included in the program.
