New issues with Sony Xperia 1 VII flagships
Sony has identified a defect in its new flagship smartphones, the Xperia 1 VII, and is offering free replacements for all affected users, reports GSMArena.
The company decided to halt the sale of the devices due to user complaints about rebooting, shutting down, and other issues. Although a software update was released to fix the problem, it turned out that the root cause was a malfunctioning power board, rather than software.
Sony's statement indicated that the faulty power board in some smartphones was due to peculiarities in the manufacturing process. The manufacturer also noted that it has already changed its manufacturing technology to avoid similar situations in the future.
Users are advised to check the IMEI code of their smartphones on a special portal. If their device is affected, they will receive instructions on obtaining a new device.
The replacement program will launch on July 21. Recently, Samsung has been the leader in smartphone shipments.
