Hundreds of ballots in Washington State destroyed due to ballot box arson.
According to confirmation from the Clark County election commission auditor, hundreds of ballots were destroyed in Vancouver, Washington, due to a ballot box fire. Investigations are underway regarding the cause of this incident.
This is not the first case of ballot box arson this election season. A similar incident occurred earlier in Portland, Oregon, a few miles from Vancouver. However, it cannot yet be claimed that these two incidents are connected.
Recently, a man was arrested in Phoenix, accused of setting fire to a mailbox containing early voting ballots. The police believe the suspect's motives are not politically related.
The election campaign in Washington County is very tense, especially between congressional candidates Joe Kent (Republican) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Democrat). This pair of politicians already competed in 2022, and they are now competing for victory once again.
