Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson has banned transgender individuals from using restrooms in Capitol buildings
Mike Johnson, who is the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, has imposed a ban on the use of restrooms in the Capitol by individuals identifying as members of the opposite sex. This decision contradicts the tolerance policy in the U.S.
This ban was announced by Johnson after an openly transgender individual, Sarah McBride, was elected to the House of Representatives.
“All facilities where individuals of the same sex may be, such as restrooms and changing rooms in the Capitol and office buildings, are reserved exclusively for individuals of that biological sex,” Johnson stated.
He also emphasized that men cannot become women, and women need to have their own space.
This decision by Johnson follows the initiative of Congresswoman Nancy Mace, who introduced a resolution banning transgender women from using women's restrooms in the Capitol. Although Sarah McBride's name is not mentioned in the resolution, Mace noted that it specifically pertains to her and expressed the opinion that McBride has no right to vote.
It is worth noting that Mike Johnson is a close associate of Donald Trump. The chosen president's positions on women's rights, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ community are well known in the U.S.
Previously, Mike Johnson called for Joe Biden to resign after announcing he would not run for election.
