The USA is ready for a military operation in Iran: expert names conditions for intervention

According to ТСН: U.S. special forces may consider the possibility of carrying out a military operation in Iran when protests reach a final stage and the collapse of Ali Khamenei's regime becomes inevitable.

Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies Igor Semivolos believes that external intervention in the situation in Iran is unlikely. He noted:

"In my opinion, there will be no direct external intervention in the situation in Iran. There will be threats, there will be pressure, however, Trump does not care who will negotiate with him in Iran after the overthrow of Ali Khamenei".

According to him, the current U.S. president does not care what political force comes to power after the regime change. Semivolos added:

"It could be moderate Islamists, monarchists, republicans. He absolutely does not care. He makes such statements and builds his policy regarding Iran".

Military scenarios and the protest movement

The expert emphasized that alongside political pressure, military scenarios are being developed as well. Thus, he noted:

"At the same time, U.S. special forces are preparing for a possible military operation in Iran".

Semivolos stressed that currently the important question is the capability of the protest movement to independently overthrow the regime. He shared his opinion:

"In my opinion, such an operation will be possible at the final stage. In particular, when it becomes clear that it will just take a push for it all to fall apart".

Semivolos also noted that currently, there are no conditions for active actions, and all parties are waiting to see if the protestors have enough potential to overthrow Ali Khamenei's regime. He added:

"So far, there is none, and therefore no one wants to rush. Everyone is waiting to see if the people who have taken to the streets in Iran have the potential to overthrow Ali Khamenei's regime".

It is known that with the onset of mass protests in Iran, which threaten the fall of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's regime, Russian military transport aircraft have started to fly to Tehran more frequently. Internet access has also been completely shut down in Iran amidst anti-government protests triggered by a sharp deterioration in the economic situation. Demonstrations have spread across all provinces of the country.

These protests indicate deep social discontent in Iran, caused not only by political repression but also by economic difficulties. Maintaining tension in society, the situation remains under close monitoring by the international community, which is watching the developments in the region.
