US imposes sanctions on Maduro's family: what the dictator is accused of

According to ТСН: The US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on the family and supporters of Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and his wife due to their involvement in corruption schemes and drug trafficking.

According to the agency, seven individuals associated with Maduro and his wife are subject to the restrictions.

Among them are relatives of Carlos Erik Malpika Flores, the nephew of Maduro's wife, who is accused of being involved in corrupt activities in the state oil company.

The sanctions list also includes Flores's mother, Maduro's wife’s sister, his father, sister, wife, and daughter.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen condemned them for 'supporting Nicolas Maduro's criminal drug state.'

“We will not allow Venezuela to continue to fill our country with deadly drugs. Maduro and his criminal associates threaten peace and stability in our hemisphere,” Bessen added.

Earlier, controversial propagandist Tucker Carlson made a statement about the possible plans of US President Donald Trump to declare war on Venezuela.

It was also reported that Donald Trump announced the introduction of a complete blockade of oil tankers that are subject to sanctions and arriving or departing from Venezuela.

These sanctions indicate further deterioration of relations between the US and Venezuela, as well as serious intentions of Washington to combat drug trafficking and corruption associated with Maduro’s regime. With such actions, the American administration hopes to force Venezuela's leadership to answer for its actions and change the situation in the country.
