Ukrainians in Poland are marrying more often: a record number of marriages in 2024.
Ukrainian marriages in Poland in 2024
According to inkorr.com: In 2024, Ukrainians in Poland are increasingly choosing their fellow countrymen for marriage. Demographer Piotr Shukalski reported that 2,627 marriages between Ukrainians were recorded — a record. In addition, 2,556 marriages were concluded between Ukrainians and Poles, as well as 166 marriages with representatives of a 'third' nationality, among which Belarusians prevail.
Thanks to the extension of the stay period for Ukrainians abroad, many of them are starting to 'normalize their lives', which implies the legalization of relationships. As a result, Ukrainians in Poland are more often marrying fellow countrymen, Poles, or representatives of other nationalities.
The importance of understanding in relationships
Psychologist Mark Travers notes that many couples enter marriage with unrealistic expectations, but it is important to be able to jointly resolve conflicts, which are a necessary component of any relationship.
These changes in marriage statistics reflect the adaptation of Ukrainians to the new living conditions in Poland. With the increasing number of Ukrainians choosing to marry abroad, one can observe a trend towards strengthening interethnic ties and integrating into Polish society. This, in turn, opens up new opportunities for the development of social and cultural connections between nations.
