Stefanchuk responded to rumors about the new position of Kiril Timoshenko.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk stated that the appointment of ministers is handled by the parliament. He neither confirmed nor denied the information about the possible appointment of the former deputy head of the Presidential Office Kiril Timoshenko to the position of Minister of Strategic Communications.
This statement was made by the head of the VR during the 'State Creator' forum taking place in Kyiv.
Will Timoshenko become the Minister of Strategic Communications
'The Ukrainian parliament appoints ministers. Who has already been appointed is their business. We have already introduced the new prime minister, accepted the new cabinet of ministers... We will only control their activities', Stefanchuk noted.
He also emphasized the importance of countering Russian propaganda during the information war and stressed the need to create an authority to combat it.
'We need to create an agency or a sub-ministry for counter-propaganda, which will defend our interests in the information space', he added.
Recently, information circulated that Timoshenko could lead the Ministry of Strategic Communications, which will be separate from the Ministry of Culture. This department will be responsible for overseeing information policy, strategic communications, and possibly partly for electoral processes.
Moreover, the head of the Verkhovna Rada has already expressed his position on the key tasks of the new government and explained the reasons for personnel changes.
The Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov also announced the launch of an analogue of the well-known department of Elon Musk aimed at optimizing government spending.
