Stepan Giha spent the final two and a half months of his life in the hospital. His death resulted from complications related to diabetes and an infection. Kvitoslav noted that

“diabetes played a decisive role, along with an infection that, unfortunately, his body could not overcome.”

His children have shared memories of their final conversations with him.

“Our last conversation was a long one. We connected via video call and he said we must continue to work,”
