According to TSN.ua: Stepan Giha, a People's Artist of Ukraine, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 66. His children, Kvitoslav and Stepan Jr., have shared details about the final months of their father's life and the circumstances that led to his death. Stepan Giha spent the final two and a half months of his life in the hospital. His death resulted from complications related to diabetes and an infection. Kvitoslav noted that
“diabetes played a decisive role, along with an infection that, unfortunately, his body could not overcome.”
His children have shared memories of their final conversations with him.
“Our last conversation was a long one. We connected via video call and he said we must continue to work,”recounted Kvitoslav. The death of Stepan Giha is a profound tragedy for his family, his many admirers, and for Ukrainian culture as a whole.
