AI in Ukrainian Schools: How the New LAM Model Is Set to Transform Education.
A New Chapter in Digital Learning
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine is rolling out advanced artificial intelligence models in its education system, with the LAM model at the forefront. This technology is designed to automate teaching processes and deliver personalized learning experiences. Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Borniakov stated that, under pressure from Russia, Ukraine is actively pursuing the use of the LAM model for educational purposes. He also highlighted the 'Mriya' project, a digital platform aimed at streamlining educational workflows.
The LAM system is already operational in over 3,500 schools across Ukraine. By the end of the year, authorities plan to extend its reach to half of the country's schools. Beyond automation, the model will tailor instruction to individual student needs, promoting more effective knowledge retention. Borniakov emphasized that locally developed LAM models are crucial, as children will ask questions related to history and other subjects that require context-sensitive responses.
First-Grade Enrollment Begins
Meanwhile, enrollment for first-grade students for the 2026 school year has started in Odesa. Notably, no entrance exams or knowledge assessments are required for new students. This change aims to reduce stress for both children and parents, making school entry more accessible and equitable.
The integration of AI models like LAM into Ukrainian education marks a significant step toward modernizing learning to meet contemporary demands. In addition to automation, these models support a more individualized approach to students, potentially boosting overall educational quality. The 'Mriya' project further reflects the government's commitment to building efficient educational systems amid the challenges posed by the war. Such initiatives could lay the groundwork for broader education reforms in Ukraine.
