Ukraine Announces Scholarship Increases

According to Novyny.live: Starting with the 2026 academic year, Ukrainian students will see higher scholarship payments. The national budget for 2026 allocates 6.6 billion hryvnias to fund these stipends, marking a significant boost to financial aid for learners. This move aims to ease the economic burden on students and encourage academic excellence.

Revised Scholarship Structure

Under the updated framework, the Presidential Scholarship of Ukraine will climb to 20,000 hryvnias. The Verkhovna Rada Scholarship will rise to 8,800 hryvnias, while the Cabinet of Ministers Scholarship will reach 8,000 hryvnias. The minimum academic stipend is also set to increase, hitting 4,000 hryvnias. For those with outstanding academic records, the enhanced academic payment will go up to 5,820 hryvnias.

Additionally, the sector-based scholarship will grow to 5,100 hryvnias, with the elevated sector-based version reaching 7,420 hryvnias. It is worth noting that students at professional pre-higher education institutions will also benefit from these new stipend levels starting September 1, 2026.

These adjustments are designed to support students and boost their motivation to study, which is expected to have a positive impact on Ukraine’s educational landscape.

Raising scholarships represents a crucial step toward improving learning conditions for students, especially amid ongoing economic hardships.

These changes could attract more young people into higher education and incentivize students to strive for top academic performance. It is essential that such initiatives are paired with meaningful reforms in the education system to ensure graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the modern job market.
