Students Get 50% Off Ukrzaliznytsia Tickets, But Some Exclusions Apply.
Student Discounts on Ukrainian Railways
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) offers a 50% fare reduction for students, though the discount does not apply to every train or carriage type. Eligible travel options include general and third-class sleeper cars, as well as second- and third-class seats on domestic routes, suburban trains, and City Express services. This initiative aims to make rail travel more affordable for students commuting between cities for education or other activities.
However, the discount excludes higher-tier carriages such as SV (luxury sleepers), coupe (first-class compartments), and first-class seats, except in regional trains. Students must therefore select only the carriage categories covered by the promotional offer to benefit from the reduced fare.
How to Claim the Discount
To receive the discount, students must enter their personal details when booking tickets online. Additionally, they are required to carry a valid student ID card during boarding to verify their status. This benefit significantly eases travel expenses for students who frequently rely on rail transport for intercity journeys.
Implementing these student discounts marks a key step by Ukrzaliznytsia to support young people, helping to lower transportation costs that are often essential for attending classes or participating in events. Amid economic challenges, such fare reductions can provide meaningful relief, ensuring students maintain access to vital resources and opportunities.
