IDPs can receive a subsidy for housing rental: who has the right to assistance.
Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to war can receive a state subsidy for housing rental. The amount of this assistance depends on the family's income and the rental cost, which is calculated individually for each family. It is important to understand who can form a household to receive this support.
According to the information from the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, the household of internally displaced persons can include family members living together and having family ties with the tenant of the housing. This includes children, parents, husbands, wives, as well as other categories of citizens.
Who is included in the household of IDPs for housing rental
According to the PFU, the subsidy for rental housing is paid for six months and depends on:
- the level of the family's income;
- the number of family members;
- the cost of housing rental in a specific region.
The household of internally displaced persons renting housing can include individuals living in the rented housing and with whom the tenant has family ties.
- husbands, wives, children, step-sons, step-daughters, adopted children, etc.;
- children with disabilities;
- persons with disabilities from childhood;
- non-working parents, etc.;
- persons living together with a single person with a disability and providing care;
- women and men who live together but are not married.
The Fund notes that a household applying for subsidies can consist of even one tenant.
Who cannot be included in the household
According to the Pension Fund, several categories of citizens are not included in the household, such as individuals on full state maintenance, studying full-time for more than three months and living in a dormitory, in captivity, or serving in the military for more than 30 days in a row.
The list of individuals who can be included in the household is defined by a government decree. However, the implementation of the rental subsidy program for internally displaced persons is complicated due to the informal rental housing market in the country.
Ukrainians who left their homes due to war have the opportunity to take advantage of the state subsidy for housing rental. The amount of assistance depends on the family's income and the rental cost, while the composition of the household may include various categories of individuals. However, the subsidy program faces difficulties due to the peculiarities of the rental housing market in Ukraine.
