Trial of Airbus and Air France over AF447 crash: what has changed.
According to inkorr.com: A new court trial has begun in France regarding the crash of flight AF447, which occurred 16 years ago. 228 people lost their lives in that incident. The investigation could not determine the culpability of Air France and Airbus in this tragedy, but now the prosecution has challenged the previous decision, and the court will hold new hearings.
It turned out that the pilots failed to adequately respond to the icing of the speed sensors, which caused the crash. Airbus received criticism for its slow response to the sensor issues, while Air France faced scrutiny for insufficient pilot training.
The previous court acknowledged instances of negligence, four of which related to Airbus, and one to Air France, but deemed them insufficient for criminal liability.
This new trial is significant not only for the relatives of the victims seeking justice, but also for the aviation industry as a whole. The first hearings will take place on Monday at 13:30, during which representatives of Airbus and Air France-KLM will speak.
