The court dismissed the charges against Granovsky: ruling under the law on oligarchs

The court acquitted Granovsky of charges of being an oligarch

According to inkorr.com: The Holosiivskyi District Court in Kyiv ruled that the charges against 'oligarch Granovsky O.M.' lack sufficient grounds. This is stated in the court ruling issued on September 17, 2025, in case No. 752/22017/25.

The foundation of the charges consists of the provisions of the law of Ukraine 'On Preventing Threats to National Security from Excessive Influence of Oligarchs'. This law defines the criteria under which an individual can be recognized as an oligarch. Among them:

  1. participation in politics;
  2. influence on the media;
  3. control over monopolies;
  4. wealth exceeding 1 million living wage minimums.

The court found that none of these criteria are confirmed in the case of Granovsky. The decision to grant oligarch status is made by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in accordance with the mentioned law. The court also noted that Granovsky's 2017 declaration was verified by the National Agency for Corruption Prevention, and no violations or conflicts of interest were found in it.

Thus, the court noted that the accusations against Granovsky as an 'oligarch' have not been confirmed, as no evidence of the attributes required by law for such a status has been found in him. The court recognized the absence of reliable evidence that Granovsky is an oligarch and dismissed the charges.

This ruling represents an important stage in the investigation into the influence of oligarchs in Ukraine. In circumstances where the country is trying to counter excessive influence from wealthy businessmen, judicial practices related to oligarch status will have significant implications for the political and economic climate. The situation surrounding Granovsky also demonstrates the complexity of defining oligarchs by the criteria laid out in the legislation. This issue remains relevant for society and the state.
