Sweden tests the latest technology of drone swarms.
Sweden is testing a new drone technology to enhance its defense due to tensions with Russia. This was reported by Reuters.
The Saab Group and the Swedish Armed Forces have jointly developed a new technology for using drones in swarms. This was announced by Minister of Defense Pål Jonsson.
The newest NATO member, Sweden, is testing a new technological development from Saab. This opens a new chapter in the work of the Swedish armed forces.
At a press conference, Pål Jonsson stated that the new technology will be tested during the Arctic Strike exercises.
We must take some risks to quickly create more powerful defense capabilities.
The minister noted that this technology allows for the creation of swarms of drones of various sizes that can perform different tasks such as reconnaissance, positioning, and identification.
Sweden joined NATO in 2024 and is increasing its defense spending due to Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. By 2028, defense expenditures are expected to reach 2.6% of GDP.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also plans to increase the production and acquisition of drones from Ukraine's allies. He announced this during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.
