Sweden investigates drone incident near military base: what is known

According to inkorr.com: On the night of Friday, September 26, residents of the Karlskrona archipelago noticed two suspicious drones near the Sturkö and Tjurkö islands in southern Sweden. Witnesses, along with local police, observed large unmanned aerial vehicles with red and green lights circling near the naval base.

The police quickly arrived at the scene and recorded the flight of a drone near the Mjölkösund bridge. Investigators noted that it was a large drone, similar to those recently observed in Denmark.

“It is currently unclear what this object is, but we have filed a report for a violation of aviation laws,” commented Mattias Lundgren from the police in Karlskrona.

At this point, the drones could not be identified or captured, and no suspects were detained. Proceedings have been opened under articles concerning violations of aviation norms and safety regulations. The Swedish Armed Forces were not involved in this incident.

EU countries consider creating a 'drone wall'

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson expressed readiness to use weapons against Russian aircraft if they violate the country’s airspace. Recall that on September 22, an alarm signal was activated in Oslo, Norway, due to unidentified drones.

European Union countries are discussing the idea of creating a 'drone wall' with detection systems. This initiative was expressed by EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius in response to a series of 'provocations' and the activity of drones in various countries, including Denmark.

Observation of drones near the Sturkö and Tjurkö islands in Sweden continues, and the police are examining this situation, having opened a case for violations of aviation norms. Meanwhile, the European Union is actively discussing the possibility of creating a 'drone wall' to protect the airspace of countries from unwanted flying objects.
