Taras Topolya has sued MP Maryana Bezuha over statements about his service.
Musician Taras Topolya has initiated legal proceedings against MP Maryana Bezuha due to her statements regarding false information about his military service. He considers her remarks about a 'fake mobilization' and the use of his service in the Armed Forces for publicity to be defamatory. This information was reported by Oboz.ua, citing an interview with Topolya for 'Glavkom'.
According to inkorr.com: The conflict between them arose in June when the shelling of Topolya's apartment during the war prompted comments from Bezuha on social media. She characterized it as 'karma' for the singer due to his military service. Topolya regards such words as slander and even organized a fundraising campaign for 'psychiatric assistance' for the MP; however, after her refusal, he decided to donate the collected money to support the children of fallen soldiers.
Details of the lawsuit
In his new interview, Topolya emphasized that Bezuha should be held accountable for spreading false information. The lawsuit has already been filed, and the musician hopes for a just decision and a public retraction of the offensive statements. Currently, Bezuha has not commented on the situation.
It should be noted that Topolya, along with the band 'Antytila,' joined the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to support the country during the war. After a year of service, they returned to civilian life; however, Topolya continues to serve in the military. He emphasizes that his mission extends beyond the stage and also includes military service.
The situation between Taras Topolya and Maryana Bezuha draws public attention. The musician demands a public retraction of her statements and accountability for spreading false information about his military service. The development of this legal process may not only affect their relationship but also significantly impact public opinion on the importance of truthfulness of information, especially in the context of military service. Whether this will truly serve as a lesson for public figures remains to be seen.
