Every day, scammers cunningly cheat to trick money from trusting subscribers. To protect yourself, it is best to carefully monitor the numbers from which calls come and not to answer those that look suspicious.

How to recognize a scam call

After the '+' sign, the first digits indicate the country code. For example, for Ukraine, it is +380, and for Germany — +49. A call from an unfamiliar international code may be a trick by scammers impersonating a 'foreign' subscriber.

You should also be cautious of Kyiv landline numbers with the code +380 44, which are often used by spammers. If you do not have a connection in the capital, it is better to refrain from answering.

  • Kyivstar — +380 67, 68, 96, 97, 98, 77;
  • Vodafone — +380 50, 66, 95, 99, 75;
  • Lifecell — +380 63, 73, 93.

If the number looks unusual, this can be a sign of fraud. You should also be careful with short service numbers, as scammers sometimes copy their format.

Fraudsters are also increasingly using messengers for their manipulations. In such cases, it's safer to decline the call and verify the contact independently, if needed.

It is also worth remembering about silent phone calls, which may check the activity of the number without communication. Experts recommend avoiding suspicious messages in messengers and deleting them immediately to prevent fraud.

The number of fraudulent call attempts is growing worldwide, so users need to be vigilant when receiving calls from unknown numbers, especially with international or unusual codes for them. Following simple recommendations can help avoid financial fraud and protect yourself from unauthorized actions.
