Ternopil celebrates City Day: program of cultural events and activities for residents.

This year, the City Day of Ternopil will be celebrated on August 15 for the first Time due to the transition to the new Julian calendar. Previously, this holiday was celebrated on the day of the Christian holiday of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is a temple holiday in the city.

Ceremonies honoring the defenders of Ukraine took place in the morning.

In honor of the holiday, Ternopil has scheduled cultural and sports events, including festivals, a charity concert in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, excursions, and exhibitions.

Detailed program of events:

10:00 am: 3x3 basketball tournament 'TE BASKET 2024' in Taras Shevchenko Park. Free tour 'Secrets of the Old Castle': starts at 2 Mykhaila Hrushevskoho Street, meeting at the tourist information center.

10:30 am: Free screening of the movie 'Superhero Squad' at 8 Ivana Franka Street.

11:00 am: Divine Liturgy and thanksgiving service for peace in Ukraine at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary church and other churches in the city located at 55 Knyazya Vasylia Kostiantyna Ostruzkoho Street. There will also be a local history quest 'Treasures of Ternopil Region' at the Central Children's Library at 4-A Myru Street.

12:00 pm: Literary event 'In the circle of Ternopil writers' at branch library #4 for children at 6B Bohdana Lepkoho Street.

1:00 pm: Quest-game-journey 'My native Ternopil - the jewel of my life' at branch library #5 for children at 4 Vasylia Stusa Street.

1:00 pm: Creative collage 'The city I love' at branch library #5 for adults at 33 Prospekt Zluky. Open-air installation exhibition 'City Day: a date filled with content' and cover concert by the Municipal Galician Chamber Orchestra (new renditions of old songs) at the summer stage near the monument of Ivan Franko.

2:00 pm: Festival 'Sporty Ternopil' and 'Adaptive sports' in Taras Shevchenko Park. There will also be a certificate presentation to the graduates of Ternopil educational institutions who scored 200/400/600 points in external independent testing, at 27 Petria Konashevycha-Sagaidachnoho Street (summer stage near the monument of Ivan Franko). Cover concert by the Municipal Galician Chamber Orchestra (new renditions of old songs).

2:30 pm: Video-chronograph 'Ternopil. Personalities. Events' at branch library #2 for adults at 4-A Myru Street.

3:00 pm: Opening and honoring of new names of famous people of Ternopil on the 'Star Alley' Star of Heroic Families. Posthumous award 'Honorary Citizen of Ternopil' at Petria Konashevycha-Sagaidachnoho Street.

All day long there will be an exhibition-presentation of the artbook collection 'Branch of thorn of my people' in the Ternopil Cathedral.

4:00 pm: Space for emotional relief and development for the residents of the Ternopil territorial community in the square on Viacheslava Chornovola Street.

4:30 pm: Awarding ceremony for the best residents of Ternopil on the occasion of the 484th anniversary of Ternopil City Day and presentation of the city's literary award in the name of Mykhailo Levitsky at the Ukrainian House, 27 Tarasa Shevchenka Boulevard.

5:00 pm: Celebratory events on the occasion of the 484th anniversary of Ternopil City. Opening of the street art festival 'Your SТARt' at Theater Square. There will also be a charity concert in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by students and teachers of Ternopil Music School #2 named after M. Verbytskyi at Vladimir Velyky Street, in the Church of Saint Apostle Peter.

5:30 pm: Costumed tour 'Ternopil Sketches'. Location: 2 Hrushevskoho Street, meeting at the tourist information center.

6:00 pm: Music platform as part of the street art festival 'Your SТART'. Charity concert in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by students and teachers of Ternopil Music School #1 named after V. Barvinskyi at Petria-Konashevycha-Sagaidachnoho Street/near the monument of Ivan Franko.

7:00 pm: Artistic-patriotic concert 'We are one' featuring the Palace of Culture 'Berezhil', the Children and Youth Creativity Center, location: Taras Shevchenko Park, summer stage. Charity concert in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the occasion of the 484th anniversary of Ternopil City Day/Ternopil Municipal Brass Band 'Orchestra of Freedom', location: Taras Shevchenko Park/near the boat pier.

8:00 pm: Literary-acoustic evening 'Come back alive' / evening of music and literature. Presentation of the artbook 'Faces of modern Heroes. Location: Petria-Konashevycha-Sagaidachnoho Street, near the art construction 'Thank you Heroes'.

Throughout the day there will be a library-museum tour 'Literary Ternopil' at the branch library #2 for children at 21 Ivana Franka Street, as well as the Open Microphone 'Happy Birthday, my city!' at the branch library #8 for adults at 6 Bohdana Lepkoho Street.
