Life on the Frontline: Cities Under Siege

According to UATV: Russian forces are relentlessly attacking civilians in frontline towns across Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions using FPV drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles. These strikes have already caused tragic loss of life and numerous injuries among the local population.

Survivors Speak Out

On March 13, 2023, 60-year-old Viktor was caught in a Russian drone attack. He recalled:

“I was driving along a dirt road when I heard a loud impact on the window. My face was covered in blood. Then I saw the car catch fire.”
His account highlights the constant danger residents face in these war-torn areas.

Just days later, on March 17, 2023, two Russian FPV drones deliberately targeted a vehicle carrying an emergency power repair crew—a clear attack on civilian infrastructure. Witnesses reported:

“The ‘Molniya’ drone brings in the FPV, drops it, and they strike. This is a huge problem right now.”
Such assaults underscore the persistent threat to everyday life in these regions.

On March 16, 2023, Russian troops struck the Zaitseve community in Dnipropetrovsk’s Synelnykove district. Two people were killed, and seven others wounded, including three children. Police officers involved in evacuations stated:

“Enemy drones are constantly active here. They fly around all the time.”
This points to the unrelenting presence of hostile forces in the area.

Fearing for their lives, police are now evacuating residents from the village of Mykolaivka, where 27 people—including children—are waiting for rescue. An evacuation team member said:

“Right now we’re heading to Mykolaivka. There are 27 people waiting for us, including kids.”

Tetiana, another survivor, described the horror her family endured:

“My son-in-law’s legs were shattered, my daughter was wounded. Then a second drone came to check if the first one had finished the job.”
These testimonies reveal the terrifying reality civilians face daily.

In Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, constant drone attacks are putting countless lives at risk. The situation remains dire, and continued aggression threatens to cause even more civilian casualties. Targeting infrastructure and residential areas appears to be a deliberate strategy to spread panic and destabilize already war-ravaged communities. Emergency services are working tirelessly to evacuate people, but the dangers remain critically high.
