Discussion on the Prosthetics Bill

According to inkorr.com: During a meeting of the interdepartmental working group, which considered the issue of state prosthetics, a lively dispute occurred between Yulia Tymoshenko and the Armed Forces volunteer Oleg Symeroz. The main topic of discussion was draft law No. 13704, which proposes the abolition of price limits on prosthetics. Oleg Symeroz expressed concern that this law could pose risks to the state budget due to potential price increases and urged careful consideration of the pricing policy to avoid corruption risks.

Yulia Tymoshenko asserts that the bill is aimed at improving access for Ukrainians to modern prosthetics, but also agreed that the pricing policy needs to be thoroughly analyzed and expenses should be monitored.

The discussion also highlighted the issues of bureaucratization of the process and the need for reforms aimed at real improvements for patients.

Situation with Prosthetics for Veterans

Currently, combat participants who require high-functioning prosthetics must undergo mandatory primary prosthetics and wait at least a year to receive a modern prosthetic. This complicates the adaptation process, especially for military personnel with high or double amputations. Now, the initiators of the bill hope to improve access to modern prosthetics and eliminate existing shortcomings in the prosthetics system.

Draft law No. 13704 could significantly change the situation in the prosthetics system in Ukraine, as it would simplify access to the latest medical technologies for those in greatest need. It is important that, upon the adoption of the law, price control and prevention of misallocated expenditures are not overlooked, as it concerns the lives and health of veterans.
