'A tight schedule will not be an obstacle': Trump made a statement regarding a possible meeting with Putin.
Trump considers a meeting with Putin to resolve the situation in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin for negotiations regarding the situation in Ukraine, which may take place in Turkey. He provided this information to reporters during a flight to Qatar aboard Air Force One.
'He [Putin] would like me to be there, and that's possible... I don't know if he will be there if I'm not there. We will find out,' Trump stated.
Trump emphasized that his schedule will not be an obstacle for a meeting with Putin 'for the sake of saving lives' and ending the war in Ukraine. The negotiations between the leaders may take place as early as tomorrow, May 15, in Istanbul, after Trump completes his visit to the Middle East, first visiting Saudi Arabia and now heading to Qatar.
Separately, French Foreign Minister Barro and American Senator Graham plan to discuss a package of new sanctions against Russia in Turkey. This package will include a 500% tariff on Russian oil, with the aim of strengthening restrictions and finding ways for effective impact on the Russian economy.
Trump's plans and his possible meetings with Putin
raise many questions and discussions in political circles, as this could have serious implications for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, new sanctions against Russia proposed by France and the US indicate that international partners are ready to increase pressure on Moscow and seek new ways to influence its actions.
