According to inkorr.com: A terrible incident occurred in Kirovohrad region: three people died from carbon monoxide poisoning, including two children. Another child and a woman with serious injuries were hospitalized. This was reported by the State Emergency Service.
“Three people died from carbon monoxide, including two – children born in 2010 and 2011. The tragedy took place in Kirovohrad region, in the village of Novy Starodub, Petrivska community, Oleksandriia district. One child born in 2025 and a woman born in 1988 were injured. They were taken to the hospital,” the message said.
Rescuers emphasize that carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, and tasteless, making its detection very difficult and dangerous.
Prevention of carbon monoxide poisoning
- regularly service stoves, fireplaces, and heaters;
- check chimneys and ventilation;
- don’t close ventilation openings;
- never start a car engine in a closed garage;
- install a carbon monoxide detector for added safety.
Recently, a tragedy occurred in Kolomyia due to a malfunctioning gas boiler, affecting a family of four. Also, in Lviv on Prince Roman Street, nine people, including five children, suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning and were hospitalized.
The incident in Kirovohrad region once again emphasizes the importance of adhering to safety rules at home and regularly checking gas equipment. This will help avoid similar tragedies in the future.
