Ban and Investigation
Following this tragedy, the government of Madhya Pradesh banned the sale of cough syrup and recommended revoking the license of the manufacturing company.
- A criminal case has already been initiated against the syrup manufacturer Sresan Pharmaceuticals. It was found that the product contained diethylene glycol, which is a cheaper but dangerous substitute for propylene glycol, typically used in cough syrups.
