Trump has nominated candidates for the positions of Deputy Secretary of Defense of the USA.
U.S. President Donald Trump plans to appoint Stephen Feinberg as Deputy Secretary of Defense. Feinberg is a co-owner of the investment firm Cerberus Capital Management LP, which invests in defense contractors. He has previously served on the Intelligence Advisory Board during Trump's first presidential term.
If Trump is confirmed as Secretary of Defense, Feinberg will become the second official at the Pentagon. The candidate for the Secretary of Defense position is Pitt Hegseth, a former host of Fox News. He has faced allegations of alcohol abuse and sexual conduct, but Hegseth himself denies them.
Trump has also nominated Elbridge Colby for the position of Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy. This is the third most important position at the Pentagon. Colby, known as the 'China hawk', was previously a senior official at the Defense Department during Trump's first presidential term.
