Trump reacted to criticism of Musk's growing political influence.
US President Donald Trump responded to Democrats' criticism regarding his dependence on Elon Musk. Trump emphasized that Musk has no intention of taking over the White House and made this point during his speech at the conference.
His comments were in response to Musk's help in abandoning the bill proposed by Republican Representative Mike Johnson concerning government funding. Musk helped find a worthy alternative and avoid a shutdown.
Musk has actively used Twitter, where he expressed his objections to the spending deal about 100 times. This led to criticism, and he was referred to as 'President Musk.'
Responding to this, Trump noted that even if Musk wanted to become president, he could not do so according to the Constitution, as he has to be a US citizen by birth. Musk was born in South Africa and became a US citizen in 2002.
These comments indicate that Trump does not wish to sever ties with Musk and that they share common interests.
