Trump announced his readiness to meet with Putin to end the war and hopes for help from China.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed a desire to meet with Vladimir Putin immediately to end the war in Ukraine. He also hopes for China's assistance in this conflict.
'I would very much like to meet with President Putin as soon as possible to stop this war. And this is not from an economic perspective or anything else, but from the perspective of the fate of millions of people,' Trump said.
Trump noted that he hopes for China’s help in ending the war with Russia and Ukraine, as China has significant influence in this situation.
When asked about the possibility of a peace agreement before the next forum in Davos in 2026, Trump replied that this should be asked of Russia, but Ukraine is ready for an agreement. He noted that this war should never have started if he had been president.
Trump also talked about negotiations regarding nuclear disarmament with Putin and that China should have come forward to help them.
The U.S. President also referred to oil prices as a tool for influencing the conflict. He plans to ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC to lower the price of oil, which would lead to the end of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
