Trump's statements on trilateral negotiations

US President Donald Trump believes that a trilateral meeting involving the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, and the USA will indeed take place. He emphasized that American soldiers will not be sent to Ukraine, and European countries will mainly provide security guarantees. However, the USA is ready to assist if necessary. Trump expressed doubts about the possibility of a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, but is confident that trilateral negotiations will still take place. He noted that such meetings require the willingness of all participants.

“The trilateral [meeting] will take place. The bilateral — I don’t know, but the trilateral will happen. You know, sometimes people are not ready for this,” said Trump.

Putin's position and consequences

After the meeting in Washington, Trump suggested that Zelensky and Putin meet. Discussions on the venue for the negotiations have already begun, but no specific agreement has yet been received from the Kremlin.

Experts believe that by declaring readiness for negotiations, Putin aims to buy time to accumulate resources for offensive actions against Ukraine.

“Putin's desire to achieve results at any cost leads to serious problems, including in the Russian economy. Therefore, I cannot judge unequivocally that Russia will have the same resilience in solving economic problems by the New Year,” noted military expert Vladislav Seleznev.

American support for Ukraine

The USA continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine, allowing strikes deep into Russian territory, said US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker. A new batch of weapons worth about one billion dollars has recently arrived in Ukraine.

“President Trump, firstly, is providing Ukraine the opportunity to continue defending itself. Secondly, he is providing it with more powerful strike capabilities...” said the ambassador.

The US State Department also approved the sale of Patriot and Starlink systems to Ukraine for a total of about 329 million dollars.

“Putin has been negotiating for six months... in the war, he is focusing.. But what he has done is escalation of war against the Ukrainian people... This is terrible. This is a war crime...” said Jack Keane, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the US Army.

Research shows that Putin does not show readiness for compromises, however, the USA has strong enough positions to influence events if they use all available leverage.
