Trump calls for a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump has called for an unconditional ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine for up to 30 days. His statement was recently published.
“Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine continue. The U.S. calls for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. We hope there will be an acceptable ceasefire, and both countries will be held accountable for maintaining the integrity of these direct negotiations. If the ceasefire is not respected, the U.S. and its partners will impose additional sanctions,” Trump stated.
Trump also emphasized the humanitarian importance of stopping military actions, pointing to the large number of fallen soldiers. He confirmed his readiness to join the peacekeeping process and stressed his commitment to ensuring peace between Russia and Ukraine together with European allies.
Peace initiative
Consultations are ongoing regarding the implementation of the ceasefire initiative between the U.S., Europe, and partner countries. Trump's statement is a public continuation of the conversation with the Ukrainian president and could open new paths to peace in the region.
