Kyiv Paralyzed by Shelling: How Residents Get to Work.
According to ТСН: Huge queues for buses and minibuses have formed in Kyiv. People are trying to get to work, and it is especially difficult to get from the left bank to the right bank of the capital.
Problems with Electricity Supply
Due to a Russian missile strike that occurred at night, problems with electricity supply have arisen in Kyiv. This has negatively affected the operation of the city's electric transport, particularly trams, trolleybuses, and the metro.
Moreover, weather conditions have complicated the situation: falling branches from trees onto electrical networks have added to the problems. However, transport representatives report that services are gradually resuming.
Changes in Transport Services
The situation is particularly difficult on the left bank of Kyiv. The Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration claims that they are gradually replacing electric transport on the left bank with buses.
“In particular, 8 trolleybus routes and 4 tram routes have been completely duplicated by buses,”
— stated the department.
They also noted that they are trying to restore the operation of the ground part of the metro on the red line, as much as the situation in the energy system allows.
At the moment, one train has already launched between the stations “Livoberezhna” and “Arsenalna” to transport passengers from the left bank to the right bank. The estimated interval is about 20-25 minutes.
Restoration of Metro Services
Later, the Kyiv City State Administration reported the complete restoration of the red line of the subway at 11:05.
Currently, trains are running along the entire stretch from the “Akademmistechko” station to the “Lisova” station, with all stops.
Let us remind you that on the night of January 9, the Russians attacked district heating plants in Kyiv. In some areas of the capital, there were power outages and water supply interruptions due to damage to substations, lines, and generation facilities.
The transport situation in Kyiv remains tense. Although part of the subway services has been restored, difficulties with electricity supply and worsening weather conditions may affect the further movement of transport. Kyiv residents continue to look for ways to get to work in an unstable situation.
