After Dismissal, Odesa Ex-Mayor Trukhanov Receives 545,000 Hryvnia Payout: What We Know.
Trukhanov's Compensation and Status Shifts
According to TSN.ua: Following his removal from office, former Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov was granted over 545,000 hryvnias in compensation for unused vacation days. The payment of 545,248 hryvnias was processed on November 7, 2025, based on a mayoral decree issued the previous day, November 6, 2025. This sum covered 324 calendar days of accrued leave that had accumulated between 2017 and 2025.
Throughout 2025, Trukhanov earned more than 1.19 million hryvnias in salary, with total payments for the period exceeding 1.7 million hryvnias. However, on October 14, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stripped Trukhanov of his Ukrainian citizenship. Reports confirm that Trukhanov holds Russian Federation citizenship and possesses a Russian foreign passport.
Negligence Allegations and Public Backlash
Adding to the controversy, on September 30, 2025, Trukhanov was officially notified of suspicion in a case of criminal negligence linked to deaths during a flood. These events have sparked public outcry and drawn heightened scrutiny to the former mayor's actions.
“The compensation payout to Trukhanov for unused vacation time, combined with his loss of citizenship and the negligence charge, signals major shifts in his standing and reputation.”
Given the broader context, these developments could significantly impact Trukhanov's future political career and public perception, highlighting ongoing issues of corruption and administrative accountability at the local level. The growing focus on these matters may drive changes in the political landscape of Odesa and Ukraine at large.
