Turkish businessman grows vegetables on the roof of his office: how it inspires others.
Vegetable beds on the roof of the office
According to inkorr.com: 63-year-old printing house owner in the Turkish city of Eskişehir, Salim Pektash, has set up real vegetable beds on the roof of his office! He grows tomatoes, peppers, beans, and eggplants using 200 plastic bottles. Every day, the man spends about 8 hours in his green corner, restoring his strength and relieving stress.
“This is my way of relaxing and unwinding. Some go fishing, while I grow vegetables,” says Pektash.
Pektash is proud that he gets up to 90% of all the necessary vegetables from his beds. But he does not only grow, he also nurtures his plants, communicating with them as if they were his children.
“Sometimes I talk to them as if they were my children. I say, 'You are so handsome, growing so beautifully.'”
To water his plants, Salim uses a hand pump, through which he pumps water into the bottles. His passion attracts the attention of many passersby. Pektash's example inspired others, including two brothers in Izmir, who over thirty years transformed their yard into a real garden. These stories demonstrate how people can find joy in farming even in urban conditions.
Thus, we learned about Salim Pektash, who decided to grow vegetables on the roof of his office in plastic bottles. He not only has fresh vegetables but also finds relaxation from the routine by taking care of his mini-garden.
