Tusk: Peace in Ukraine Possible in the Coming Weeks Due to New Guarantees.
According to ТСН: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed hope that peace in Ukraine may be achieved within the coming weeks. He made this statement after a meeting with European leaders, Canada, and NATO representatives.
Tusk noted that despite the escalation of tensions and the Kremlin's statements about improving its negotiating position following accusations from Kyiv of allegedly attacking the residence of the President of the Russian Federation, there are grounds for hoping for a swift end to the war. He added that this concerns the coming weeks, not months or years.
“Peace is already around the corner. There are events that give hope that this war could end quickly. But this is only hope, not a hundred percent certainty,” Tusk noted at a government meeting.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized that the security guarantees provided to Kyiv by the United States create conditions for a peaceful resolution. However, Ukraine will have to compromise on territorial issues.
Tusk also mentioned that based on the dialogue with his Ukrainian counterpart, he assessed the probability of ending the war at 95%. The American leader confirmed that he had conducted detailed consultations with key allies in Europe and had a conversation with Putin.
Earlier, it was reported that Volodymyr Zelensky during a phone call with European leaders stated about Ukraine's readiness to withdraw troops from part of the frontline and create a demilitarized zone, provided that Russia takes corresponding steps.
Prime Minister Tusk's hopes for achieving peace in Ukraine demonstrate that the international community is inclined to activate the negotiation process. These comments also highlight the importance of compromises in seeking pathways to stability in the region, while Ukraine remains in the context of international efforts to resolve the conflict.
