Pensioners Lose Free Transport: Which Transport Will Require Payment.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian pensioners who receive payments after reaching 60 years of age are entitled to several state benefits, including
free travel on public transport. However, free travel is not available everywhere: in some types of transport, they will have to cover the costs themselves. This is
reported by Novyny.LIVE.
Where Pensioners Can Travel for Free
According to the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution 'On Free Transport for Pensioners on Public Transport', persons of retirement age can use the following types of transport for free:
trams;
trolleybuses;
city buses;
suburban electric trains.
To take advantage of this benefit, one only needs to show their pension certificate. Thus, most pensioners can travel freely around the city and suburbs.
Is the Benefit Valid on Minibuses?
Free travel on minibusesdepends on the decisions of the local authorities. Each community decides whether this benefit is granted and how many passengers can use it at the same time. Usually, this information can be found in the vehicle or on the website of the city or village council.
When Payment is Required
The benefit does not apply to taxis, intercity buses, and railway trains. Pensioners pay the full fare for such trips.
It was previously reported that the pension certificate not only confirms the status of a pensioner but also provides access to a range of social guarantees —
discounts on medications, utility servicesand government support programs.
Therefore, pensioners can utilize this benefit for free travel on the aforementioned types of transport; however, certain restrictions exist for minibuses and other types of transport. It is worth paying attention to local decisions that may influence the possibility of free transport depending on the settlement. Information about benefits and discounts may be useful when planning trips, as it includes discounts not only on travel but also on other social services.
