After the surgery, the surgeon announced the removal of a 'tumor the size of 15 by 7 cm', but it later turned out that the kidney was perfectly healthy.

According to the response from the Ministry of Health of Buryatia, the inspection confirmed the error. 'During the inspection, it was established that your results were confused with another patient,' the document states.

In his letter, the Deputy Minister of Health of Buryatia apologized for the situation and for the inadequate medical care. An internal investigation was conducted at the oncological dispensary, and those responsible were held disciplinary accountable.

Criminal case and demands of the victim

The investigative committee opened a criminal case for causing serious harm to health through negligence. The victim demands either a kidney transplant or monetary compensation from the medical institution.
