According to Novyny.live: A violent robbery occurred overnight at a hotel in central Odessa, where three men assaulted a guest and threatened him with what appeared to be a firearm before stealing his valuables. The victim, a 25-year-old tourist, sustained physical injuries during the attack. The assailants made off with the following items:
- 10,000 Ukrainian hryvnias,
- a mobile phone,
- a wristwatch,
- and a pair of headphones.
The total value of the stolen property exceeded 50,000 hryvnias. Odessa is a major Black Sea port and a popular destination for international visitors, making tourist safety a key concern.
Swift Arrests Made by Police
Law enforcement officers identified and detained the suspects in less than twelve hours. The group consisted of two Odessa residents, aged 38 and 40, and a 55-year-old citizen of a South Caucasus country. Investigators later determined the weapon used in the threat was a replica. The suspects have been formally notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which deals with armed robbery.
They face a potential sentence of up to 15 years imprisonment. A court has ordered them to be held in custody without the option of bail. This incident has raised concerns among local residents and tourists regarding safety in the city's central district.
